The department of History trains specialists in Russian history, historians of the 21st century – researchers with wide interests and knowledge of social sciences, familiar with the achievements of their colleagues in different branches of history and in other social disciplines, pursuing their own original ideas and capable of fruitful cooperation in the framework of the international academic community.

The Departmental MA program includes instrumental courses in historiography, source analysis, new methods and directions in the study of Russian history of the X-XX centers and world historical science. The program offers unique experience of cooperative work in seminars and research projects with leading specialists from St. Petersburg and guest professors from Europe and North America. Close interaction with other departments of the EUSP helps students to see their research in the context of modern anthropological, political, social, art and economic theory.
