The Center for Modernization Studies (M-center) is a separate subdivision of the EUSP; it was created on August, 2008. The aim of the center is to develop the interdisciplinary comparative social, economic and political studies of modernization processes in Russia and other countries. Scholars involved in the center’s activity work at the published papers: “European Modernization”, “USSR After the Breakdown”, “The Oil, Gas and Social Modernization” and conducted other research projects.

The main areas of work:

• conducting research and educational projects;
• creation and support of the effective research network implementing different kind of activity (seminars, conferences, round-tables);
• assistance with the training and professional advancement of the young scientists and experts which research interest connected with the center’s scientific topics;
• preparation and diffusion of the research publications (work papers), printing and internet-editions.
